Dimitris Mitsimponas graduated first in his class from the Department of Architecture, University of Thessaly. Through his studies and internship, he gained valuable knowledge and experience in architectural and product design, visualization and 3D modeling. He participated in several exhibitions and architectural competitions of various scales, as well as seminars and workshops about Concept Creation and Design. His diploma thesis, “Re-mining Giali: a new scenario for the manufactured Landscape,” won “1st Prize – Architecture Thesis Award” in the international Architecture Student Awards 2022, organized by the Cyprus Architects Association under the auspices of H.E. President of the Republic of Cyprus. He was also awarded the “Excellence in Innovative Technologies in Architecture” prize from the Youth Board of Cyprus. Currently, he is serving as an architect-facility maintenance manager as part of his mandatory military enlistment in the Hellenic Airforce, aiming to enhance the military facilities in terms of efficiency and aesthetics.
His research interests focus on architectural design issues related to small and large-scale projects and investigating the human relationship with the landscape. His extensive portfolio includes illustrations, sculptures, furniture, wearable paper garments and unrealized/concept projects. He experiments with various materials and techniques and always tries to find new ways to express his creativity. Flexibility and sustainability are the most critical principles in his projects.
