Anais “Ayilén” Chihuailaf is a young artist born in Chile from a Mapuche family, and currently living in France. She likes to use and explore different mediums during her creative process.
Description of general work / practice
My work is a way for me to reconnect with my indigenous roots and my family’s history. My work is mainly focused on Mapuche culture and history, as well as tales and stories told within my family. I mostly do drawings and watercolours, and I’m also learning traditional Mapuche ceramics from my mother, who is also an artist.
